DR. SHELLY ORDON, NATUROPATH

Dr. Shelly Ordon is a Naturopathic Doctor, Naturopathic Birth Doula and Mom. She has always been passionate about fertility, pregnancy, postpartum and children's health.

Dr. Shelly believes that optimal health is more than the absence of disease. We are all a work in progress! Nutrition, nutritional supplements, botanical herbs, acupuncture, homeopathy and lifestyle counselling can help the body restore balance, function more efficiently, and treat both underlying and obvious conditions. Every patient she sees receives a comprehensive assessment and individualized treatment plan. She believes that working integratively with Medical Doctors, Midwives, OB-GYNs and other Health Care Providers allows for the best possible patient outcomes.

Dr. Shelly graduated from The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2010.

She has been working as a Birth Doula since 2018. She is also an Evidence Based Birth Professional member.

Diana Melnick is a Registered Psychotherapist and Sex Therapist a Masters in Counselling Psychology. She uses Emotionally-Focused Therapy to effectively allow couples to create secure, lasting connections. Specializing in treating women's sexual pain issues, Diana works closely with pelvic physical therapists to help clients transition to pain-free, pleasurable intimacy.

Diana has completed a maternal mental health training program through Postpartum Support International, and has experience supporting new mothers throughout the postpartum period.

Diana provides individual counselling and also runs a group courses on premarital and sexual education.

SARA KLEIN, PELVIC PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Sara Klein is a registered Physiotherapist with more than a decade of experience. She specializes in the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction including pelvic pain, bowel and bladder dysfunction, pregnancy and postpartum recovery.

Sara is passionate about treating people with pain and also serves as a researcher, educator and staff physiotherapist in the Chronic Pain Program at the Hospital for Sick Children assessing and treating teens and children with persistent pain conditions.

Sara believes in a multidisciplinary approach and will work closely with the team at Uptown Midwives to provide the optimal patient-centred care experience.

When she isn’t working Sara can be found running after her 4 children, reading or training for a half marathon.

DR. TONYA LUBY, CHIROPRACTOR

Dr. Tonya Luby was born and raised in Tors Cove, Newfoundland. She earned her Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology from St. Francis Xavier University and then graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2001.

Since graduating, Dr. Tonya has built a family focused practice where her passion is natural family living and caring for expectant women, infants and kids. She has completed diplomas and certificates in Pediatric Chiropractic care, the Webster Technique, cranial adjusting, spinning babies and functional neurology.

Dr. Tonya is married to her best friend and has three amazing, healthy and very active children who were all assisted into this world by the Uptown Midwives!

Being a chiropractor is not only a career but a lifestyle that she chooses to follow. Her children experienced their first chiropractic checkups and adjustments within hours of their birth.

ALIZA SHUPAC, MSW, RSW

Aliza is a Registered Social Worker/ Psychotherapist with advanced training in perinatal mental health and a Certified EMDR therapist. She is also the founder of MamaCare, a group of dedicated therapists who specialize in supporting birthing women and their partners through the family-building years, from pregnancy through postpartum and beyond, fertility struggles, trauma, and pregnancy loss. 

In a safe, non-judgmental environment, using evidence-based techniques, Aliza helps clients feel supported, make sense of and manage any confusing or disturbing thoughts and feelings, and supports clients to build existing support networks. 

She also provides concrete parenting strategies based on training in Positive Parenting Solutions as well as Dr. Gordon Neufeld’s attachment-based developmental approach to parenting.

Regardless of where you are in your parenting journey, from pregnancy to postpartum and well beyond, Aliza and her team are here to support you.

DEBBY NOAR, LACTATION CONSULTANT & REGISTERED NURSE

With over 27 years of nursing experience and 15 years as a Re-certified Lactation Consultant, Debby is trained to focus on the needs and concerns of breastfeeding and chest-feeding families. Debby has worked with thousands of families and their newborns in hospitals, clinics and in their homes and has acquired vast clinical experience to perfect her skills in breastfeeding/chest-feeding and counselling, as well as education for new families and communities.

Currently working in Equity Deserving Communities, Debby is expanding her practice on a full-time basis to provide pro-bono support for new families and piloting a project to provide education and skills to participants to provide peer-to-peer prenatal and postpartum breastfeeding support within their own communities. 

In her spare time Debby spends time as an urban gardener, an artist and practices daily yoga.
